Alright soldier, welcome to the Frontline! My name is Corporal Marie Kiley, I am one of Sweden’s top players and currently hold #1 in Regional firepower ranking. I am here to help you learn fast so that you don’t die trying.
During your boot camp you will learn about resources, weapons, armors, daily-tips, and strategy. So listen carefully maggot, for I won’t have you be the weak link in my defensive line.
In Lone Hero mode (single-player) your task is to defend the frontline from wave after wave of enemies. Since I am understaffed you need to guard 3–5 positions yourself.
To earn my respect you need to survive each battle, not let too many enemies through, and have over 50 percent health left. Each of these criteria will earn you a star.
If you prove you are a soldier I can count on, you will be promoted to defend harder frontlines. That is, each level has a Warrior (easy) and Hero (hard) mode. To unlock the Hero mode you need to earn 3 stars on Warrior mode.
Now pay ATTENTION, otherwise your corpse will join your fellow soldiers who slept through this next part.
2 Resources
Now when I have your attention let’s talk about game resources. There are three types to keep track of: Stamina, diamonds, and gold.
Trust me, a good resource strategy early will help you in the long-term. So let’s begin.
2.1 What is stamina?
This is your “don’t-forget-you-have-a-life-resource.” This resource will decrease every time you train or play a single-player game. It is therefore vital to learn when and how to spend your time. For example, a Hero-battle will cost more stamina than a Warrior battle.
A good strategy can therefore be to focus on Warrior battles if you want to play at regular intervals through the day. But if you know you will have some RnR, why not clear some Hero-battles first to maximize the use of your stamina.
There are three ways to get more stamina. The first is to take some RnR, as your stamina will gradually increase while you are idle. The second is through rewards and achievements. The third is to buy stamina from diamonds. My advice is to focus on spending your diamonds on upgrading your gear.
2.2 Diamonds
In this game you can earn diamonds from achievements, events, or you can spend your well-earned cash to buy them. In-game you can use diamonds to buy more stamina, gold or gear.
My advice is to focus on saving your diamonds to upgrade your weapons and armor. As this will greatly help you turn those enemies to rifle-fodder!
2.3 Gold
Open your fort and start saving your gold, as you can never have too much! In-game gold is used to upgrade your weapons. For example, if you have X amount of weapon parts and X amount of gold you can increase your rifle’s firepower.
You can earn gold from achievements, completing single-player battles or playing multiplayer. A good way to earn gold is from your daily-tasks, which you find at the “Base.”
A daily-task can be to train up to 5 times, produce an item (such as a grenade) etc.
3 Weapons
During battles you have three defenses. A long-range rifle, a mid-range weapon, and a close-quarter pistol.
3.1 Long-range rifle
In the beginning while you gather resources focus on upgrading the standard weapons. But as soon as you hit 1580 diamonds head off to the shop and buy the AWB98-sniper rifle.
Back when I was a new recruit this trusty rifle helped me dominate the battlefield. For example, I was a bit stuck on chapter three. After I received this rifle I cleared both chapter three and four quickly.
3.2 Mid-range weapon
The second weapon upgrade is the mid-range weapon. My suggestion is the TF07-shotgun. This will help you clear enemies that get too close, while also damaging enemies that are to the left and right position. A very helpful trait later on when enemies swarm you for a last push!
Although, I also think the TX02-SMG can be a good choice. But the shotgun has a very satisfying sound!
3.3 Close-quarter pistol
For your pistol I would suggest either option. It is your last line of defense so make sure it packs a punch!
I chose the P190-pistol so I get the area-damage effect from both my shotgun and pistol.
Regardless of which weapon you choose, remember to upgrade both the weapon itself, and itsdifferent parts.
My weapon setup is:
AWB98-sniper rifle
TF07-shotgun
P190-pistol
4 Armor
Now listen soldier. A good weapon will help you greatly in the beginning, but if you forget to protect yourself you will still be crushed. Stay in training uniform and go for the shadow-armor straight away. It is a bit more expensive and harder to gather material for, but it is worth it!
Now I hope you understand why it is important to keep gathering those diamonds and not wasting them on more stamina.
5 Daily-tips
Now soldier, here are some daily-tasks to keep you in shape.
5.1 Timing
Find out when the new day begins. This happens at midnight Beijing-time. This will help you schedule training and tasks better. For example, it will help you know when you need to complete your daily-tasks under Base.
5.2 Training
There are three skills you can train up. These are reload, weapon-switch, and position-switch speed.
Make sure to train every skill at least once every day. In the beginning focus a bit extra on concentration as this will help you switch position faster. But make sure you complete 5 trainings every day, as you receive progressively more gold for each completed training session (max 5/day).
If you have a busy day and not a lot of time to play. Just begin a training session while you have a minute to spend while waiting on the bus, toilet break etc. For example, I always start a concentration training session just before bed, as it takes three hours to complete.
5.3 Production
During battles medication and grenades can be the difference between life and death. It is important to keep them stocked up. However, make sure you do not run out of things to produce. For example, if you can produce 4 grenades, only complete three and spend the last one for the next day’s production task, as this one is worth a lot of gold!
5.4 Resource locations
Make sure to daily check and claim rewards from:
Game admins: Left menu-Messages-Mail notifications.
Achievements: Left menu-Achievements.
Completed tasks: Left menu-Base-Daily tasks.
6 Strategy
Soldier, if you have not learned it by now. I want to remind you that knowledge is power. I therefore want to share some helpful strategy tips.
6.1 Learn to hear the battle
This game can be played by sighted and blind people. This means that there are a lot of sounds in the game. The first step is to learn how different things sound. A helpful resource is the sound demos under Left menu-Help. But while instructions are important, nothing beats practical learning!
While playing, learn what warning signals you get when enemies just appear, get to mid-range distance, and finally when they are close to breaking through your defense. This will also help you keep track of when your health runs low.
6.2 Understand the enemy
There are several different enemies in the game. Each of them have different characteristics. For example, the cavalry is fast, the artillery dies easily.
As I focus my firepower on my long-range rifle I try to intercept cavalry units early. So I might abandon an infantry fight to intercept a cavalry unit, before going back to finish the grunts.
I also try to quickly kill any artillery units, as they die easily and I don’t want them to rain fire on my head!
6.3 Beyond the free-play
Soldier, you can play this game for free. But if you want to support the developers in a small way I would suggest their "Monthly pass". You will receive some diamonds and gold each day, but also automatic switching of weapons. For example, when an enemy is to close for the sniper rifle, the game automatically switches to the mid-range wweapon. This can be of great help.
7 In summary
